Big bang nucleosynthesis with a varying fine structure constant and non - standard expansion rate

چکیده

We calculate primordial abundances of light elements produced during big bang nucleosynthesis when the fine structure constant and/or the cosmic expansion rate take non-standard values. We compare them with the recent values of observed D, He and Li abundances, which show slight inconsistency among themselves in the standard big bang nucleosynthesis scenario. This inconsistency is not solved by considering either a varying fine structure constant or a non-standard expansion rate separately but solutions are found by their simultaneous existence.

We constrain proposed phenomenological models for a vacuum energy which decays with the expansion of the universe from considerations of standard big bang nucleosynthesis. Several models which are simple enough to be physically appealing are ruled out. Typeset using REVTEX

Big-bang nucleosynthesis in Brans-Dicke cosmology with a varying Λ term related to WMAP

We investigate the big-bang nucleosynthesis in a Brans-Dicke model with a varying Λ term using the Monte-Carlo method and likelihood analysis. It is found that the cosmic expansion rate differs appreciably from that of the standard model. The produced abundances of He, D, and barely Li are consistent with the observed ones within the uncertainties in nuclear reaction rates when the baryon to ph...

Structure Constant from Big Bang Nucleosynthesis

We put bounds on the variation of the value of the fine structure constant α, at the time of Big Bang nucleosynthesis. We study carefully all light elements up to 7Li. We correct a previous upper limit on |∆α/α| estimated from 4He primordial abundance and we find interesting new potential limits (depending on the value of the baryon-to-photon ratio) from 7Li, whose production is governed to a l...

Non-Standard Big Bang Nucleosynthesis Scenarios

A brief overview of non-standard big bang nucleosynthesis (BBN) scenarios is presented. Trends and results of the light-element nucleosynthesis in BBN scenarios with small-scale or large-scale inhomogeneity, the presence of antimatter domains, stable or unstable massive neutrinos, neutrino oscillations, neutrino degeneracy, or massive decaying particles are summarized.

Modeling The Expansion Of The Universe By A Steady Flow Of Space-Time

Assuming that the Universe is spatially infinite, we depict a simple model where gravitation does not decelerate the expansion, which occurs at constant speed for any two distant galaxies. This Steady Flow model fits the SNe Ia observations without a repulsive dark energy. We review the main problems of Big Bang cosmology and see how they can be solved. Particularly, the singularity and the pro...
